Chief Officer

Category : Yacht Deck
Location/City : -

Our client is looking for a Chief Mate to join their very civilized 55m program. This two-season yacht has done both the Caribbean-New England and the Caribbean-Mediterranean routes and the current plan is to continue to work both of those paths.
This very professionally run program is ideal for the candidate who is either stepping up from Mate on a smaller yacht, or for that Bosun/Second Officer who is ready to move into the Chief Mate position.
This Chief Mate position is not a paper-work position. You will find yourself on deck with your team a solid 50-70% of the time and your eye for detail is impeccable. Strong leadership and management skills are required, intimate knowledge of deck operations and products are critical. You are able to get along with multiple nationalities/cultures and you truly enjoy working on yachts.
The turnover on this yacht is very low and the ideal candidate will have already shown a commitment to their career, staying in previous programs long enough to truly pull everything you can from them - serial job hoppers will not be considered.
This yacht is part of a multi-boat fleet so the ability to work with both your "home" team and the other teams in the program is a big plus.
The previous Chief is leaving on very good terms and that is indicative of the type of candidate this program hires. Growth candidates are strongly encouraged as they do offer some tuition re-imbursement.
The position does require the OOW as a minimum, but candidates with the Chief Mate 3000 will receive preferential consideration.
There is plenty of time before the spot actually opens, so they are not in a rush, however they are willing to hire a candidate sooner in order to offer a nice, long hand-over/transition.
