We are seeking an energetic, stable, American captain/engine for a fleet of smaller boats. The boats are U.S. flagged so only American or green card holders can be considered . Along with the 53', 7 other smaller boats are kept in Michigan. 3 total in FTL. The owner is a collector of classic wood boats. Including a 53' 1955 Chris-Craft.
Crew member must be a licensed Captain/engineer (100 ton minimum). The Captain must have some experience as a skipper and have strong engineering skills . Varnishing skills a plus for maintenance but has a yard that does the major varnishing jobs and someone in Michigan does the wood work as well. Both positions are hands on positions. Although a 5-6 day work week is instilled, the owner lives aboard so candidates need to be flexible with their time off.
The owners boating season is 8.5 months in Fort Lauderdale and the remainder in Michigan. There are occassional trips to Palm Beach, day cruises, Bahamas, etc.
The prior Captains were onboard for 3 and 12 years.
If you have an appreciation of classic boats this is a great job for you. No big drinkers, smoking ok and if you enjoy fishing even better. Must be pro-active with a maintenance program.
Salary and benefit package attractive for the right candidate.
